When Spring time arrives in the UK, it is often slow and quiet.The weather does not always warm up immediately and often it stays cold for quite a while. It is undeniable though that Spring is one of the prettiest seasons with many flowers and young shoots making their way to bloom after the long sleepy winter.

The Botanical Gardens in Bath’s Victoria Park is free to visit.
It is a gorgeous well-maintained garden with a large collection of different trees, plants, shrubs and flowers. There are wonderful specimens of gingko biloba, magnolias and cherry blossoms
It is undeniable though that Spring is one of the prettiest seasons with many flowers and young shoots conkers, organ blossoms and even several different acers.
A pond runs through the garden with a few well-placed viewing points, including a bridge which crosses over the small stream.
Spring welcomes new families like this family of moorhens who live on the pond at the Botanical Gardens. Dad is out foraging for mum and the chicks.
One strong independent fellow is out exploring. It isn’t long though, before he makes his way back to the safety of the nest.
The Bath WI maintain a small community garden which in late spring and summer is a vibrant burst of colour and texture.
Climbing roses frame the archway while giant sunflowers are often planted in close proximity almost forming an army of sunflowers. Bordered by lavender and rosemary herb bushes, other vegetables are often included in the planting scheme.
Near one of the entrances is a miniature Roman temple that can be booked for weddings.
This little building is a beautiful reminder of the City’s history and heritage.
