L’ETO in Belgravia, London, stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, particularly renowned for its exquisite selection of cakes and tea. Nestled in the heart of one of London’s most charming neighbourhoods, this café offers a delightful retreat for those in pursuit of indulgent treats and a serene tea experience.
Irresistible Window Display
We have a confession to make. The photo of the window display below is not taken from the L’ETO Caffe in Belgravia but of a different L’ETO Caffe also in London. We were in a hurry to get in that we did not take any photos. Besides, these photos below were taken earlier in the day so the spread was still full. These windows displays are a real crowd puller, I dare say, getting majority of the customers through the door. Simply irresistible.
You can find more photos of our favourite cakes in the gallery section at the bottom of this article.
What We Recommend and Ordered
Upon entering L’ETO, guests are greeted by an alluring display of cakes, each more tempting than the last. The array showcases a variety of flavors and textures, promising something to satisfy every palate.
Honey Cake
Noteworthy is their signature Honey Cake, a masterpiece of layered delicacy that balances sweetness with the light, airy texture of the sponge, making it an unmissable treat for any visitor.
Carrot Cake
The Carrot Cake is another triumph, with its moist crumb and the perfect blend of spices, topped with a velvety cream cheese frosting that complements without overwhelming. For chocolate lovers, the Chocolate Fondant Cake is a dream come true, with its rich, gooey centre and intense cocoa flavour that melts delightfully in the mouth.
Napoleon Cake
Tempted by the slices of strawberries, I ordered the Napoleon Cake. The cake is a culinary marvel that stands out as a testament to the art of patisserie. This delightful confection layers crisp, flaky pastry with a rich and creamy custard filling, striking the perfect balance between texture and flavor.
Each bite offers a harmonious blend of sweetness and buttery goodness, with the subtle vanilla notes of the custard complementing the pastry’s delicate crunch. Renowned for its elegance and sophistication, the Napoleon Cake at L’ETO Caffe is not just a dessert; it’s an experience.
Crafted with precision and care, it embodies the cafe’s commitment to quality and its passion for bringing a piece of culinary excellence to the heart of London. Whether enjoyed as a luxurious treat alongside a cup of tea or as a decadent end to a meal, the Napoleon Cake is a must-try for anyone visiting L’ETO Caffe.
Pistachio and Rose Petal Cake
Pistachio and Rose Petal Cake is a masterpiece of flavor and aesthetics, a true jewel in their crown of desserts. This exquisite cake marries the rich, nutty flavor of pistachios with the delicate, floral notes of rose petals, creating a sensory experience that is both unique and enchanting.
The cake itself is moist and tender, with finely ground pistachios lending it a beautiful green hue and a texture that is both luxurious and inviting. The frosting, infused with rosewater and adorned with edible rose petals and chopped pistachios, adds a touch of elegance and a whisper of fragrance that enhances the cake’s overall allure.
Each slice is a testament to L’ETO Caffe’s use of innovative and high-quality ingredients, offering a sophisticated and memorable dessert that captivates the palate and the imagination. Perfect for special occasions or as a treat to elevate any day, the Pistachio and Rose Petal Cake is a signature delight that embodies the essence of L’ETO Caffe’s culinary artistry.
And wash it all down with…
L’ETO’s commitment to quality extends to its tea selection, offering a curated range of loose-leaf teas that cater to both traditional and adventurous tastes. The Classic Earl Grey is a testament to the art of tea, with its bergamot-infused aroma and clear, refreshing taste. For something a bit more exotic, the Moroccan Mint Tea provides a revitalising experience, with its vibrant minty notes and a hint of sweetness, making it the perfect accompaniment to the café’s sweet offerings.
We ordered the Peach and Elderflower tea and a soft drink. It came in a big pot, enough for two.
Orders to Go
Whole cakes are also available to order. We were particularly impressed with the San Sebastián Chesscake. A delicious baked vanilla cheesecake decorated with berries with extra fruits, see image below.
