Hilton breakfasts are renowned the world over. Although they vary from country to country, every Hilton and Double Tree hotel serves up a breakfast that lives up to the ideology that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’.
We arrived at Hilton Northampton on a Sunday afternoon and the Seasons Restaurant was closed. We were quite disappointed as we had booked our half board stay with dinner and breakfast included. But we were quickly reassured that the full dinner menu would be available at the bar and lounge.
Seasons Restaurant
While we didn’t make it in for dinner, breakfast was served at the Seasons Restaurant the next morning. We have stayed at a number of Hiltons and Double Trees and have always been very impressed with the hotel’s breakfast and service. The Hilton Northampton is no different. At some hotels, there’s even a chef on hand to cook omelettes on demand filled with whatever choice of ham, cheese or vegetables that you may like. Things are a little different in Northampton.
The waffle station
This time, we were treated to a very professional looking waffle station. A do-it-yourself waffle making machine that cooks your favourite golden crispy waffle in 3 minutes flat. Of course, being Hilton, someone was on-hand to explain the process, plus there were printed instructions.
The Golden Malted American Waffle Maker made an excellent waffle with the perfect crispiness outside and a soft fluffy texture inside. Golden Malted American Waffle mix can be bought in premix batches and this was what was provided in the restaurant. There was no second guessing the recipe and ratios, it was consistently perfect every time.
Cold continental breakfast options
After our waffle, we went for the continental cold dish options. The counter fridge was beautifully laid out with cold meat (ham and chicken), cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber, tomato, salad and olives as well as soft cheese. Also in this refrigerated section were the fresh fruit salad and yogurt section.
Bread and patisserie shelves
There was also a generous range of beautifully crafted patisserie – croissants, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisin and variety of crusty and soft rolls.
‘The Full English’
Typical to all Hiltons, an amazing spread of ‘hot fry-up’ options included back bacon, sausages, baked beans, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and three different kinds of eggs to choose from, fried sunny side up, scrambled or poached.
Fruit and Yogurt
We tried to make the most of our breakfast as we knew we were going to have a long day exploring. So typically, as one does, we stuffed ourselves. And, even after a cold and hot breakfast, we reached out for some fruits to finish. The fruit and yogurt bar also included two types of smoothies. The latter is definitely a new addition.
As always, a Hilton breakfast is well and truly the best start to the day.
