Dim Sum in Northampton - Oriental Garden Restaurant

While there are many Chinese restaurants that do dim sum in London, it is usually a challenge to find one elsewhere in the UK. We needed our dim sum fix on our trip to Northampton so we asked online for the best place to get them. The answer, Oriental Garden Restaurant.

Getting there was easy but the Sat Nav took us on a one way street via A508. If you are driving, the easiest way is to get to Mayorhold Shoppers’ Multi Storey Car Park (Lady’s Ln, Northampton NN1 3AH) and head for the south east exit on the ground floor. The Orient Garden Restaurant is just across the road on a three way junction. Parking is free on Sunday and Bank Holidays so you can stay for as long as you like, otherwise see link for weekdays and Saturday charges.

The restaurant was clean, bright and airy. We were promptly seated and ordered our Chinese tea. For our dim sum dishes, we ordered our usual favourites both steamed and fried dim sums as well as Cheung Fun. We started with the obligatory Har Kau and Siu Mai, all served steaming hot as you can see from the photos. See full list below:

Needless to say, we over ordered and was totally stuffed. Everything tasted so good. We would definitely recommend it.

For take out, we ordered two portions of Three Mixed Roast Meats with Steam Rice and two portions of Har Kau. They consisted of Crackling Roast Pork Belly, Roast Char Siew Pork and Roast Duck. The portions were so big, the three of us had them for dinner that night and lunch the next day.
