We have been following Sai Kung Cafe since their days in Exeter. We frequented the restaurant wherever we are down that way. Now that they have moved to Bristol, even closer to us, we were excited to learn of their rapid expansion. They are currently in two locations in Bristol, Park Street and Nelson Street. The former has turned into a Hong Kong cart noodle shop, while the latter is on the ground floor of Little China Town in Nelson Street serving Hong Kong Cuisines.
168 Kitchen in Little China Town Food Hall
A third food venue rebranded as 168 Kitchen on College Green, a dim sum, roast meat and fresh seafood restaurant did not stay open for long due to the shop being sold. 168 Kitchen has since moved to the first floor of Little China Town Food Hall on Nelson Street. They occupy a corner of the first floor, jointly with other eateries; a Thai restaurant, a Cake and Dessert Stall and fresh and frozen seafood counter. The food hall’s lively atmosphere perfectly complements the social, shareable nature of dim sum dining.
If you’re a fan of authentic Hong Kong cuisine, you’ll be delighted to know that 168 Kitchen has found a new home in the Little China Town Food Hall on Nelson Street, Bristol. This vibrant food destination, tucked into the heart of the city, offers a range of Asian culinary delights—and 168 Kitchen is a must-visit for dim sum lovers.
What We Tried
On our visit, we were drawn to the variety of dishes on offer. Here’s a closer look at what we enjoyed:
Har Kau (Prawn Dumplings): These translucent, delicate dumplings were generously filled with juicy prawns. Each bite delivered a burst of flavor, showcasing the hallmark of quality dim sum.
Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp Dumplings): Plump and succulent, these open-faced dumplings were a crowd-pleaser.
Prawn Cheung Fun (Steamed Rice Roll): Smooth and silky, the rice rolls wrapped around fresh prawns were served with a lightly sweetened soy sauce—a classic dish done to perfection.
Pan-Fried Turnip Cake: Golden and crispy on the outside, these turnip cakes had a soft, savory interior with just the right hint of umami.
Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce: Tender and flavorful, this traditional dim sum delicacy was expertly prepared, with the black bean sauce adding a rich depth to the dish.
