Malaysians can never go without talking about food or looking for food. Feeling a little home sick and after a quick fix and cheap eat when in the center of London, head over to C&R Restaurant for some Malaysian street food.
Hidden away in the alley, a tiny courtyard in Soho, the restaurant has since been renovated with more space added and seatings on both ground and basement level.
Get your Char Koay Teow, Hockien Prawn Mee, Bak Kut Teh, Beef Rendang and Char Hor Fun fix here. Every time when we are in London, we would call here in the evening on weekdays. We have been regulars for more than 10 years now.
It is especially busy during lunch time, with a line forming outside so we try and avoid this. They have a big variety of Malaysian food including Salted Fish Fried Rice and Pork Trotter in Dark Soy.
The Singapore Laksa is a big hit with the locals so is a must try. Between the three of us, a single child family, we usually only order two mains as the portion is huge.
If like us, you would rather share your mains, don’t be afraid to ask for small bowls. Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what others have to say:
Super big servings for a very cheap price and food tastes superb!”
“It’s now my favourite place to eat and the service is on point!”
“Great quality food, abundant portions, small prices!”
“No words needed. It tastes like home (Malaysia)”
“Five star food. As authentic as you can get.”
If you don’t take spicy food, please ask the server or waitress for recommendation. You’ve been warned.
