We discovered by accident a little gate and some rather steep steps that took us right to the water’s edge along the River Avon. Adventuring downwards gave us some amazing views along the old riverbank at Bradford-on-Avon. If you’re in the vicinity, we would certainly recommend it as a quick stop.

This ‘hidden’ gate is located right next to Timbrell’s Yard, just behind St Margaret’s Hall. As you walk down the path leading to the swimming pool, the gate is on the right, just as you pass Timbrell’s Yard entrance.
If you’re driving, park at Bradford-on-Avon short stay car park and it’s just under a minute’s walk to the gate.
We frequently walk along this path by the river and enjoy the cool shade under the trees and the wonderful views of rowers getting their training in. Quite often to get to our favourite walk, going under the railway bridge towards Tithe Barn, a medieval monastic barn. We then take the cycle path on the right when it forks and walked along the river until the dog had enough and turn back.
If you take a left at the fork and going up some steps at the far end, you get to the canal. Alternatively, take another left through the walls into the grounds of Tithe Barn.

Part of our walk is listed on viewranger although we did not do the full circuit, only the paved riverside path.
